Introduction to International College
The International College of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE) is the brand of JUFE’s international schooling. The International College focuses on recruiting high-quality students and adhering to the international education concept of students are the masters of learning, and it takes shaping integrity, promoting learning, embracing openness, and cultivating patriotism as its motto. In accordance with the schooling philosophies of to teach is to learn and “combining all the best resources both from home and abroad”, the International College cultivates talents of international economic and managerial expertise with global competency through the hiring of international teaching staff, using international teaching methods in the classroom, and promoting global exchanges and global environments.
The International College was founded in 2002. Relying on three of JUFE’s national-level first-class majors (Finance, International Economics and Trade, and Accounting), the International College set up 4 major programs - Finance (CFA), Finance (International Investment and Finance), International Economics and Trade (CITF) and Accounting (International Accounting) - in the form of undergraduate experimental teaching classes. There are more than 1500 International College students on campus every year.
With respect to teaching, JUFE’s International College benchmarks the training programs of world first-class universities by making use of original English textbooks, recruiting high-quality teachers to conduct bilingual teaching, and hiring long-term teachers from well-known universities from within China and overseas such as the United States, Canada. Therefore, International College students can receive internationalized education without having to go abroad.
Internationally advanced teaching methods are also adopted at the International College. Students’ abilities to use English language are improved by English reading competitions, English listening competitions, and IELTS oral test simulations. The International College adopts a small-size class teaching approach and accentuates learning process evaluations. Several systems, such as selecting teacher assistants, teaching management assistants, learning facilitators, and class secretaries, aim to foster the students to be the masters of learning. Over the past two decades, the teaching quality of the International College has continuously improved, and its school-running characteristics have become increasingly prominent. The International Finance and the Certified Financial Analyst majors have been accredited by the CFA Institute of the United States, and the Accounting (International Accounting) major has been accredited with a degree certification by CPA Australia.
With respect to global exchanges and cooperation, the International College actively cooperates with overseas universities, professional associations, and various non-profit international organizations to provide students with high-quality international education services. The college currently has 16 overseas long-term and short-term academic projects as well as 5 overseas internship and research projects, including a “2+2” undergraduate dual degree program, a “3+2” undergraduate program and a master dual degree program with Macquarie University in Australia. In addition, the college also has a “3+1” undergraduate program with the University of California, Riverside in the United States, “2+2” dual degree undergraduate programs with the University of Missouri (St. Louis), and many other exchange programs with other prestigious universities.
The International College also cooperates with the Study Abroad Foundation (SAF) to open up admission channels to prestigious universities overseas, thus facilitating student exchange with more than 50 world leading universities worldwide, such as Columbia University and Oxford University. Moreover, the International College has joined hands with The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars (TWC) to build a high-end overseas internship platform. Students at the International College can go overseas for internships and course studies. Many international test organizations such as IELTS, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT have also set up test centers at JUFE.
With respect to CPC party building, Youth League and students’ affairs, the CPC International School Commission insists on the concept of “fostering virtues through education”, strengthening the construction of exemplary units of “Standardized, Regularized and Informatized Party Building”, and constantly improving the “full staff, all-round and whole course” education mechanism.
The Party Commission of the International School has set up a brand Party building program called “Jinggang Spirit, Chinese Heart”. The college has strengthened its ideological and political guidance, and it has refined four programs - Lead by Character Building, Enrich Knowledge by Extensive Reading, Mind for Openness and Innovation and Cultivate Patriotism - to guide students to study hard, develop in an all-round way, and grow healthily.
The International College has also established a scholarship system and built a student scientific research and competition platform to carry off-classroom activities. The college has initiated an “UP plan” and built 30 various internship and practice platforms. The College was twice awarded the title of National Five Red Flag Youth League Committee and has won more than 20 awards, such as the Advanced Primary-Level CPC Organization, the Advanced Ideological and Political Work Collective, and the Advanced Employment Facilitation Unit.
The College has achieved fruitful results in cultivating international talents. The students of the International College have performed well in various competitions, including the championship of the First National College Student Financial Investment Simulated Trading Competition (Shihua Cup), the championship of AIA International Accountants Association's Job Seeking King Chinese competition, the special award of the national English competition of Foreign Language Research Press Cup, the second prize in the National Challenge Cup College Student Extracurricular Science and Technology Works Competition, and many other awards and honors, totaling over one thousand. The students at the International College have successively won the highest or full scholarships from relevant universities in the UK, France, and the Netherlands, as well as Global ETS TOEIC Scholarships, CFA Association University Certification Program Scholarships, CPA Australia Scholarships, and the Washington Overseas Internship Center Scholarship in the United States.
The regular employment rate of the International College has always been among the top of all JUFE schools. The International College has received more than 8,300 graduate students since 2002. Almost 45% of the students have furthered their studies in their home country and abroad. Among them, more than 10% of graduates who studied abroad were admitted to the top 20 world-renowned universities. For students who chose to enter the job market after graduation, more than 60% entered Fortune 500 companies and well-known Chinese and foreign companies or institutions and have been widely recognized by employers. The students of the International College can be found at Wall Street’s top investment banks, the world’s four largest accounting firms, large multinational companies (GM, Procter & Gamble, etc.), famous domestic enterprises (Huawei, Tencent, etc.), and famous universities at home and abroad (Cambridge University, Columbia University, Peking University, Tsinghua University, etc.). All of them are playing active roles in their respective positions.
